SOPHIA CROMATICA
Originally from Rome but adopted by Venice, is a contemporary ancient soul. From her early artistic beginnings, her compositions have explored the depths of metamorphosis. Her paintings are visual mythologies. The cross-pollination between various languages and media, with colour as the absolute protagonist, gives rise to total installations where the viewer becomes an integral part of the work, enveloped and engaged in a meta-narrative of colour and light. The arabesque is the common thread of possible timeless crossings. In her ethereal spaces of colour, one ascends to another dimension, a spiritual body and a celestial land, «in the world but not of the world.»

Atelier Cromatico – Founded in Madrid in 2002 and led by Italian architectand artist Claudia Bonollo, Atelier Cromatico is an international for art, culture, and colour research and a multidisciplinarylaboratory for conscious chromatic exploration.
Originally conceived as anew cultural promotion hub, it has evolved into a meeting point for artists, architects, urban planners, art enthusiasts, historians, scientists, philosophers, poets, psychologists, therapists, musicians, and more.Activities revolve around thematic dinners, gastronomic gatherings, masterclasses, workshops, creative nights, art-house film nights, seminars, exhibitions, video projections, and are characterized by two fundamental criteria: the belief that research should be approached in a multidisciplinary manner and the emphasis on experimentation, turning every participant in our initiatives, whether a teacher, student, or simple visitor, into a researcher.
There’s no need to save phenomena with grace, faith, all-encompassing theories, or with scientific objectivity, or transcendental subjectivity. They are saved by the anima mundi, by their own soul, and by our simple breathlessness in the face of this imaginative amiability. «We want the world because it is beautiful, its sounds, its smells, the composition of its structures, the sensitive presence of the world as a body. In short, beneath the ecological crisis lies a much deeper crisis of love, the fact that our love has abandoned the world, and the world lacks love is directly due to the repression of beauty, its beauty, and our sensitivity to beauty. For love to return to the world, it is first necessary for beauty to return to it, otherwise we would only love the world out of moral duty: cleaning it, preserving its nature, exploiting it less…».
Excerpt from «The Politics of Beauty» by James Hillman
«lo stesso mi sforzo di ascoltare i colori cosi
come ascolto le pietre o i cieli di Venezia:
come rapporti tra ondulazioni, vibrazioni…
svincolati da ogni laccio simbolico»
Luigi Nono
